Amy E. Fabick, MSW, LMSW

Clinical Social Worker

Amy E. Fabick (she/her) joined Blue Water Counseling in 2005. She is a 1997 graduate of University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work and has been working in the field for over 25 years. Amy spent the first part of her career working in the areas of trauma and crisis intervention for Austin Police Department Victim Services and St. Davids Hospital Emergency Department. She has a passion for helping people find resiliency as they move through their darkest moments in life. She provides counseling services for adults, children, and couples with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, parenting, and recovery from trauma. She is a proud human and dog mother, and in her spare time she enjoys hiking, cooking, theatre, and spending time with family and friends.

Jennifer Keizer Horbes

Jennifer Keizer Horbes, MA, LLP

Clinical Psychologist

Jenn Horbes has been a clinician at Blue Water Counseling since 2002. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University 1998 and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Appalachian State University in 2002. Currently, she is an Associate Director at BWC and provides clinical supervision to staff as well as carries a small caseload of clients who struggle with a variety of mental health concerns. She also enjoys supervising and conducting psychological assessments to a variety of local community organizations, Jenn is happily married and resides locally with her husband and dog. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, practicing yoga, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Kelly I. Aiello, MA, LPC

Professional Counselor

Kelly Aiello has been a clinician at Blue Water Counseling since 2016. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Rochester College in Counseling Psychology and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2013. She provides counseling services for individuals and families with a variety of concerns, with specialty in children, parenting, and families affected by divorce or domestic violence. She is a certified child-custody evaluator, and utilizes her past experiences conducting these evaluations to help support clients cope with contentious divorce situations. Kelly is a trauma-informed therapist who is certified in Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR); she is skilled at assisting people through big and small traumatic life events and changes. She also specializes in anxiety, and has recently become interested in Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). Kelly is happily married and resides locally with her husband, two children and two cats. In her spare time she enjoys crafting, and even sometimes sells her art at Michigan farmer’s markets.

She received both her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from Notre Dame University in Lebanon. She has worked in the mental health field both in Lebanon, her home country, and Michigan. She utilizes different therapeutic approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), person-centered therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. Additionally, she can offer therapy in three languages: English, Arabic, and French. Yara enjoys activities such as dance, yoga, physical fitness, and reading/writing in her free time.

Philomena Breault, MA, TLLP

Clinical Psychologist

Philomena is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience and education in trauma-informed behavioral health and person-centered therapy. Her goal as your therapist is to foster a safe and non-judgmental space for self-growth, development, and healing through different modalities like mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational interviewing approaches. While a big part of her background is rooted in behaviorism, she will work with you based on your needs and personal strengths.

Philomena received her B.Sc. in psychology from the FernUniversität Hagen in Germany in 2021 and her master’s degree in clinical psychology and applied behavior analysis (ABA) from the Michigan School of Psychology in Farmington Hills in 2024. She has worked in outpatient and inpatient pediatric autism treatment settings, and in inpatient psychiatric care with a variety of patients ranging from 3 to 95 years old. She immigrated from Germany at the age of 24 and can conduct therapy both in English and German.

She lives with her husband in Saint Clair with their rescue Pit mix who loves to go on hikes with them, watch her cook German food, and be her moral support for the next home improvement project.

Shelby Fey joined Blue Water Counseling in 2021. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University (2015). She was the Secretary for Chi Sigma Iota and the Editor of The Encounter Newsletter at Oakland University (2014-2016). She was nominated by her peers for the Outstanding Entry Level Student Award (2015). She was the Publication Chair for Michigan Counseling Association (2016-2019). Shelby received a Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis in Autism from Ball State University (2018). She is a supervisor for students and clinicians in Behavior Analysis. Shelby has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and parents/families in outpatient and inpatient settings. Shelby believes the client is the expert in their own life. She provides an eclectic, person-centered approach.
Shelby has presented/taught on topics such as: Autism, Applied Behavior Analysis, Parent Training, Toileting, Safety Training, and Basic Life Support.

Bernita W. Fuller, MA, LPC, CAADC

Bernita Fuller has worked as a clinician at Blue Water Counseling since December of 2014. She has worked in the field in various clinical positions since 1998. Her wide breadth of experience includes working with individuals of all ages, ranging from children to the geriatric population, in settings as diverse as juvenile/family court, schools, and both inpatient and outpatient mental health. Bernita earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan – Flint in 1979. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University in 1998 with a Specialization in Child and Adolescent Counseling. In 2005 she earned another Specialization, this time in School Counseling from Oakland University. Bernita is a trauma-informed therapist, who employs cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal strategies in sessions to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. Her deep compassion for others and genuine authenticity help individuals feel comfortable, respected and seen.

DeniQuia Berry-Golston (she/her) is a dedicated Limited Licensed Social Worker, whose passion lies in empowering individuals, as well as promoting body positivity and self-advocacy for those seeking support in their pursuit of well-being and personal growth. DeniQuia equips individuals with coping strategies that foster resilience. She provides a safe and supportive space for her clients to explore personal life challenges that may be hard to overcome, and offers the opportunity to work through these challenges to achieve personal growth. With a warm and empathetic demeanor, DeniQuia is able to create powerful partnerships with her clients, and to tailor specific approaches that meet the needs of each individual.

It is with deep understanding that DeniQuia offers a therapeutic experience for clients from diverse backgrounds through her in-depth knowledge and training from California State University of Long Beach (CSULB), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a Bachelor of Science in Community Health. She then went on to earn her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC).

Julie A. Gordon, MA, LPC

Julie Gordon joined Blue Water Counseling in March 2010. Ms. Gordon lived in the Croswell area for 48 years with her husband. Together they raised 3 daughters ages 45, 39 and 24 and one son age 45. They have been blessed with 21 year old boy and girl twin grandchildren. An 11 year old grandson, 9 year old boy and girl grandchildren and 10, 8, 7 and 4 year old granddaughters. They also share their home with a ten year old Schnauzer, a one year old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and a brand new King Charles Cavalier puppy! She was a stay at home mom until she was 41 and decided it was time to go to school. Her goal was to receive her master’s degree before she reached the age of 50! She started at St. Clair County Community College and received her Associate’s Degree. From there she went on to Rochester College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling Psychology. A week after her graduation she started her Master’s Program and in 2007 graduated with an Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology (3 months before her 50th birthday!!). Also, during the completion of her Master’s degree she became a Certified Advanced Alcohol and other Drug Counselor. Her career up until joining BWC was working in inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation. She still really enjoys working with this population. She also enjoys working with women suffering anxiety and depression or weight issues. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crafting, photography, and traveling.

Kari A. Kreger, MA, LPC

Kari obtained her teaching degree in Elementary Education, with minors in math, science and Spanish, from Western Michigan University. She worked in education for 5 years prior to obtaining her Master's Degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has over 15 years counseling experience. She is also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CAADC) and has extensive experience working with substance abuse and addictions. She also has expereince working with co-occuring disorders, co-dependency, depression and anxiety disoders, post-traumatic stress, bi-piolar disorder, personality disorders, relationship and family problems, stress and anger management, grief and loss, childhood behavior problems, school problems and with survivors of abuse. "I loved teaching, but decided to go back and get my Master's Degree in Counseling as I wanted to better help children and adults cope with the many stressors and difficuties life can bring to us all at times." Kari lives with her 18 year old son, who is in his first year of college at St. Clair County Community College and their snoodle (snauzer/poodle mix). Shannon McKeever MSW, LMSW, CAADC

Clinical Social Worker

Shannon is a clinician at Blue Water Counseling. She earned her Master's of Social Work Degree from Michigan State University in 2010 and has been working in the mental health field since that time. Shannon has been working with Blue Water Counseling since August 2019. She has been trained in multiple evidence-based practices, these include but are not limited to: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Assertive Community Treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Motivational Interviewing, and Prolonged Exposure. She has been certified in Exposure and Ritual Prevention through the Cognitive Behavioral Institute. Along with being a Licensed Master’s Social Worker, Shannon is also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Shannon currently works with teens and adults in areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, mood dysregulation, self-harm, mild to moderate substance use, non-substance related addictions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, OCD and social isolation.

    Dr. Shelly Papinaw is a resident of Port Huron, who lives with her husband, two young sons and two Boston Terriers. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has been in the counseling profession for approximately 18 years. She has been employed at Blue Water Counseling since June 2012 and is comfortable working with the various clientele, including adolescents, adults, couples and families. She has extensive experience helping others who are dealing with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and substance abuse, among other client concerns. Shelly is passionate about helping to empower clients to achieve a healthy state of mind and spirit, which allows them to fulfill their highest potential. She is a graduate from Oakland University with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education. Her dissertation was titled, "Perceptions of Support for Parolees and Their Identified Social Support Systems."     Beth Paruszkiewicz, MS, LLP

    Beth Paruszkiewicz is a clinical psychologist who obtained both her Bachelors (2001) and Masters (2004) degrees in clinical psychology from Madonna University in Livonia, MI. Beth has worked in a variety of clinical settings since 2004, including outpatient, day treatment, inpatient and in the emergency department. She has worked as a testing psychologist, outpatient therapist and crisis intake specialist.     Hilary Richards graduated with honors in 2008 from the University of Michigan – Flint with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and obtained a Master's degree in Social Work in 2012 from Wayne State University, Detroit. In combination with pre and post-graduate experience/employment, Hilary has been providing a variety of social work services in St. Clair and Macomb Counties since 2008.

    Experience includes direct clinical therapy services in both residential and outpatient settings (individual, group, couple/marital, family & psychoeducation), as well as case management and administrative services. She also provides clinical training on Trauma-Informed Care, trauma-related disorders, secondary/vicarious trauma, burnout and self-care.

    Francine L. Robinson, MA, LPC

    Francine joined Blue Water Counseling in August of 2015. Ms. Robinson has worked for the past six years as a licensed counselor in the Port Huron area and is a life long native of the area, aside from the 14 years she resided in the Chicago area in early adulthood. Francine completed her undergraduate studies at Rockford College/University in Rockford, Illinois where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Development while also completing her teaching certification in middle school science, social studies and English language arts. Ms. Robinson formerly taught science in Illinois and Social Studies in the Port Huron area at the middle school level. Francine then completed her Master's Degree in professional counseling at Central Michigan University, followed by obtaining her school guidance counseling certification and full professional nationwide counseling licensure. Ms. Robinson is passionate and experienced at working with adults, teens and adolescents!

    Sheila joined Blue Water Counseling in Dec. of 2022, as the next step in a career that has spanned 47 years. In that time, she has had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide array of issues. As a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Sheila has worked in a variety of settings including in-patient psychiatric units, residential treatment, Family Court, and as a Military and Family Life Counselor on Active Duty military bases in Korea, England, Germany and Italy. Sheila also found time to get a second Master's degree in Homeopathy, and to train extensively in Systemic Constellation work. Most recently, Sheila has been certified to provide Accelerated Resolution Therapy, similar to but different from EMDR, for trauma treatment. Sheila feels confident that she can partner with you to find a way through your symptoms, into the light of the life that you deserve!

    Alexis Sawyer, MA, LLPC

    Alexis currently practices as a limited licensed counselor (LLC) with Blue Water Counseling. She provides a warm space full of support and comfort that eases her clients when they are in session. Her goal is to make the client feel heard and accepted throughout their journeys of struggle and success. Alexis creates bonds with each client and works around the client’s specific needs.     She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Northern Michigan University and her Masters of Science in Counseling Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix.

    I am a graduate of Oakland University, where I received my master’s degree in social work. I spent my pre-graduate career working with organizations to end domestic violence and sexual assault and provided behavioral health crisis intervention within a hospital setting. I believe that seeking therapy can be a vulnerable and courageous step towards creating the change you want to see in your life. As your therapist, you can expect me to be a compassionate and encouraging source of support on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. My primary goal is to provide a safe, open, and respectful environment for clients to meet their unique needs and goals. My counseling style is warm, client centered, and empowerment driven. The therapeutic process is meant to be collaborative and engaging. I will guide you in developing new skills and strategies that improve your ability to cope with distress, understand yourself, and find clarity. I look forward to working with you!

    Samantha is a fully licensed Master Level Social Worker at Blue Water Counseling. Samantha completed her undergraduate degree at Baker College in Human Services, and received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Ferris State University. Samantha has provided counseling services for a variety of clients since her career began in 2019. Samantha has experience navigating homeless and low-income resources, advocating for client well-being, and providing clinical services to both youth and adults. She is passionate about seeing individuals as a whole person, and inspiring self-growth and healing. Samantha encourages clients to become believers in their own ability to heal from trauma or experience.

    Marilyn A. Walker, MA, LPC, CAADC

    Professional Counselor

    Marilyn A. Walker is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and CAADC from Port Huron, Michigan. Marilyn graduated from Oakland University with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling in 2005. Marilyn has worked ever since in various settings as an LPC and CAADC, from substance abuse rehab, residential/outpatient and day treatment night watch. She has a passion for helping people with various life challenges (trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, self-esteem, relationship issues, conduct/oppositional defiance) gain hope and establish stability to improve functioning and productivity. Marilyn incorporates various evidence-based therapeutic approaches into her practice including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (Ml). Marilyn encourages her clients to visualize the life they desire. Her motto is "if you can see it, you can achieve it."

    Clinical Social Worker

    Jeannine is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who specializes in working with children, teens, young adults, and women. She has worked in school settings, hospital settings, and with individual clients for many years. Jeannine helps these populations manage anger, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, cognitive impairments, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, emotional impairments, autism, and impulse control concerns. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy and a holistic approach to serve her clients. Jeannine typically works with clients individually but incorporates family members when appropriate and necessary. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance to her. Jeannine was born and raised in Michigan and received her Masters from Michigan State University. She truly enjoys working with teens, adolescents, young adults, and women and is very passionate about helping others improve their mental health. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, nature, spending time with her family and friends, her dogs, spiritual healing, and positivity. Jeannine specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), a therapeutic approach that helps clients recognize and stop or change negative thoughts and behaviors. CBT allows clients to explore their emotions in healthy, positive ways. Jeannine utilizes a holistic approach that helps clients heal in all aspects of their lives.     Stacy Wynn, MSW, LMSW

    Clinical Social Worker

    Stacy is a licensed Master of Social work (LMSW) who has been providing mental health treatment to children, adolescents, and adults since 2010. She attended Michigan State University and obtained a Psychology degree, and then moved to Hawaii and completed her Master's in Social Work at the University of Hawaii. Stacy has experience working with individuals in various settings, but her primary focus has been outpatient therapy. She joined the Blue Water team in 2017 and continues her work with adults and children, primarily providing virtual services with the option of limited in person sessions. She is also the co-leader of the clinic’s Gender Non-Conformity support group, for individuals exploring their gender identity and expression.

    Andrea J. Covrea, PMHNP

    Nurse Practitioner

    Andrea J. Covrea has been a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) since 2021. She’s been working with patients in the psychiatric field since 2013 and officially joined Blue Water Counseling on November 4th, 2024. Andrea began her career as an RN and has worked with individuals suffering from various mental health and substance abuse concerns for over 11 years. She’s worked in various settings including emergency psychiatric care, inpatient mental health treatment, and community mental health/outpatient medication management. Andrea truly enjoys working in the mental health field and has a strong passion working with adults and those struggling with substance abuse concerns. Andrea will be working primarily with adults in-person but will also offer virtual appts and in-person services for children ages 8 +.

    Clinical areas of interest/experience include Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Major Depression, PTSD/Trauma, Anxiety, and Substance Abuse/addiction.

    Karen Joseph, MD

    Psychiatrist

    Karen Joseph M.D., is a highly skilled psychiatrist with nearly two decades of experience helping individuals of all ages manage and overcome mental health challenges. Dr. Joseph completed her residency training at the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine Psychiatry Training Program, where she honed her expertise in psychopharmacology and innovative therapeutic approaches. She trained under the internationally renowned Peggy Papp in Family Systems Therapy. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Joseph’s expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Family Reunification Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

    Dr. Joseph has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, cutting-edge care. She has extensive experience treating Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Impulse Control Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, and Trauma related disorders. Her work with children and adolescents, especially those on the autism spectrum, is one of her greatest passions, and her holistic approach to mental health ensures that everyone she treats receives personalized, effective care.

    Dr. Joseph’s passion for mental health education and advocacy is at the core of her practice. She loves empowering individuals with knowledge, helping them understand their conditions, and guiding them toward healing.     Anna M. MacLeod, PA-C

    Physician Assistant

    Anna M. MacLeod PA-C joined Blue Water Counseling on May 25, 2021. She earned a Master of Science in Medicine, Physician Assistant Studies at Western Michigan University in 2016 and a Bachelor of Health Care Administration from Baker College in 2010. Captain MacLeod is a member of the Air Force Reserves. She has been working in the medical field in various capacities since 2006; most recently, since 2017, she worked in an Emergency Room with Greater Midland Emergency Physicians. In the Emergency Room, Anna gained experience working with psychiatric patients by completing assessments, making admissions for inpatient care, transferring to other services and coordinating outpatient followup.

    Eva Waineo, MD

    Psychiatrist, Medical Director

    Dr. Waineo rejoins Blue Water Counseling as of September of 2013. She is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and is Board Certified in adult psychiatry.
